Ravel to appear in Moorpark show

Musician Freddie Ravel will present his "Tune Up to Success" motivational program tomorrow, Sat., Sept. 29 at the Moorpark High School Performing Arts Center, 4500 Tierra Rejada Road. A silent auction will start at 6 p.m. and the show at 7 p.m.

The event is a fundraiser for the high school's Academic Decathlon team. For tickets, priced at $25 general admission and $50 VIP seating/back stage reception, call (805) 312-5511.

According to Universal/Verve Music Group, Ravel is "considered one of the most outstanding keyboard players, composers and producers in contemporary music."

Ravel began performing worldwide with Brazilian icon Sergio Mendes by age 23. Shortly thereafter, Ravel recorded Top 10charting albums for Universal Records, including "Midnight Passion," "Sol to Soul" and "Freddie Ravel," featuring the No. 1 hit, "Sunny Side Up."

Ravel is a producer, composer and live performer who worked with Earth, Wind & Fire, Al Jarreau, Kanye West, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Bobby McFerrin, Quincy Jones and Sting, as well as live performances with Prince, Herbie Hancock and Carlos Santana. Ravel played the piano solo in Madonna's remix of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina."

Most recently, Ravel produced and co-wrote the title track "Givin' It Up" for George Benson and Al Jarreau, whose album won two Grammys.

Ravel's commitment to raising human potential through music created an interactive performance program in 2002, Tune Up to Success, where he reveals to audiences ranging from teens to Fortune 500 Companies how music connects and empowers their personal and professional lives. He is part of Jack Canfield's Transformational Leadership Council.

As a lyricist and commissioned author, Ravel has published works with Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson and Dr. Martin Luther King's daughter Yolanda King.

Ravel has raised funds for City of Hope and the Music Center Spotlight Awards and served as spokesperson for ANGELCARE, a charity dedicated to saving lives of underprivileged children.

Last year Ravel previewed his upcoming release, "New Life," on www.feed333.com to feed 3 million American children in 33 days.

"Music is so profound that I consider it to be the very fabric of the universe. It is amazing that variations of rhythm, frequency, and harmony can have such a profound universal power to make people jump for joy, feel melancholy or create a sense of déjà vu" said Ravel.
