Legion collects e-waste items

American Legion Moorpark Post 502 will accept electronic waste from residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fri. and Sat., Oct. 12 and 13 at the parking lot of the Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark, 200 Casey Road.

A donation of $2 is suggested for each item for handling.

Electronic items cannot be disposed in the trash. E-waste can be recycled into raw materials to make other products.

Consumers who turn in ewaste can get receipt for fair market value of donated items, which are tax deductible.

Accepted items are computer monitors, computers, laptops, keyboards, mouse, televisions, fax machines, copy machines, scanners, printers, cellphones, telephones and items with electronic boards in them.

This event cannot take household/commercial appliances such refrigerators, microwaves, washers or dryers, or any hazardous materials/waste.
