Legionnaires host a barbecue for veterans, military personnel

Legionnaires of Moorpark Post No. 502 invite local veterans as well as active and reserve military as guests for a barbecue of hamburgers and hot dogs at the Veterans' Memorial Grove in Poindexter Park from noon to 4 p.m. Sun., Aug. 19.

A representative of the Ventura County Veterans' Service Office will be present to answer questions and provide up-to-date information.

"All you need to do is show up, and we'll do the rest," said Bruce Thomas, post commander. "This is a simple thank you for your service to the country and to show our support for a job well done and for the tasks that lay ahead."

The event is made possible by the Moorpark Rotary, Parks and Rec and Simi Valley Smart & Final.
