Moorpark College welcomes freshmen
Orientation is Aug. 16

Moorpark College has invited approximately 4,500 freshmen to a Freshman Orientation/Social on Thurs., Aug. 16 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the campus.

The freshmen are first-time college students ages 17 to 21 who are starting in the fall semester.

The event includes campus tours, opportunities to talk with faculty and information about student services such as financial aid, counseling, the Writing Center, student clubs and more. Students will also be able to purchase their books, supplies, student identification cards and parking permits at this time.

Local radio station Q104.7 will provide music. Free refreshments will be served by faculty, staff and administrators who will mingle with the students to answer questions.

"This is an important firstimpression event for our new students in that it introduces them to their new environment in an atmosphere that encourages casual, fun connections with their peers, faculty and staff. Our goal is to spark students' pride and launch their sense of community with the campus," said Moorpark College President Eva Conrad.

The event is sponsored by the Admissions/Outreach office and Associated Students at Moorpark College.
