'Bye Bye Birdie' flies into High Street
The High Street Arts Center will present the classic family musical "Bye Bye Birdie" from Fri., Aug. 10 through Sept. 16 at 45 E. High St., Moorpark.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
The play is a musical satire that tells the story of a rock 'n' roll singer in the 1950s who is about to be inducted into the army. His agent is trying to shake his overbearing mother and make one final splash before marrying his secretary. A middleAmerican family gets pulled into the press event of a lifetime.
Songs include "Put on a Happy Face," "Kids," "One Last Kiss," "An English Teacher," "What Did I Ever See in Him?," "One Boy," "A Lot of Livin' to Do," "Rosie" and "Spanish Rose."
The book is by Michael Stewart, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Lee Adams.
Will Shupe is the director, with Paul Taylor as musical director, Dani Brown as choreographer and Rachel Manheimer as assistant director.
The principal cast includes Paul Bartlett, Masaya Palmer, Annie Block-Weiss, Chad
Burns, Matt Howell
and Sharon
Brandenberger.
Tickets are $15 for
adults, $12 for seniors and
