No fear of losing private property

I read with interest the letter "Executive Order Infringes on Rights" (July 27). It appears to me to be another example of the fear tactics espoused by certain elements of our society. If you carefully read the Executive Order with an open mind, you will realize that the order specifically refers to persons or entities that commit acts that support the war against terrorism, not oppose.

I'm not sure what the author meant by "actively oppose" but it could have been made clearer. Vocally or philosophically opposing the war is not in violation of the law and would not be affected by this order.

Many of us oppose the war, and even George Bush himself, but I have absolutely no fear that my property is in danger of being confiscated. Let's not nurture the fear tactics so prevalent in today's media. John Strebe Moorpark
