Concerned with city landscaping

I am aware that the city of Moorpark recently has been, within the last three months, doing work on Tierra Rejada at Los Angeles Avenue and then along L.A. Avenue. They have cut the sidewalks, which were too narrow to begin with, and added water lines and new plantings and trees, both at the sides of the streets and down the center meridian on Tierra Rejada.

I am concerned about this since we have had only three inches of rain in the past water year. The snow pack is only at 40 percent as well. We are being told to be careful of our water use. I do not see why the city would add decorative plantings which require additional water at this time. I also think the city should have considered doing some decorative meridians similar to those in Phoenix, as they require little or no water.

The sidewalks along L.A. Avenue from Tierra Rejada into the city are extremely narrow and would not allow an adult with a child to walk side by side, especially in the areas where the plantings have been added.
