Read Declaration on television We are inviting special friends of the community from the city of Ventura, Ventura County and the state of California to help CAPS-TV commemorate our nation's birthday this year by participating in a reading of the Declaration of Independence. As a public access station we are purveyors of free speech, and no other document, besides the U.S. Constitution, represents the fundamental ideals that the United States of America was founded upon, including freedom of speech. We have set aside two days, June 19 and 20, to tape individuals in our studios here in Ventura. You will be asked to read portions of the document, and though we may not be able to inform you which portion before taping, we will provide either a teleprompter or cue cards to ease any burden of memorization. Please allow an hour for the taping. You will be among many influential individuals in our community delivering the words from our forefathers in a taped show to air multiple times on cable Channel 15 during the Fourth of July. Our telecast will feature a brief history of the document, presented by a professor of history from Ventura College, which will then segue into the oration by you and your fellow readers. We believe that this will be a valuable endeavor by reminding viewers about the significance of the document and the risk that those who authored and signed the document made for the cause of liberty. It is also a dramatic way to educate children about the Declaration and its importance to both U.S. and world history. We hope you are able to participate and look forward to working with you on this most valuable program.
Due to time, please RSVP with preferred date and time via e-mail atrburlingham@capstv.org or phone at (805) 658-0500 or my cell at (310) 498-8475. Thank you very much. |
