The Moorpark College Foundation Board, local companies, community groups and college staff members have contributed more than $130,000 in scholarships for students this year.

The foundation hosts an annual ball with the proceeds benefiting Moorpark College scholarships and programs.

The foundation also administers numerous scholarships funded by college staff through payroll deduction or annual gifts. Among those scholarships are anthropology, biology, computer science, counseling, education, exotic animal training, history, math, music, nursing, photography, radiology technology, life science and general science.

The Los Robles Hospital medical staff donated $10,000 this year to be used for nursing scholarships. Dozens of community organizations also offer scholarships each year.
