Memorial Day services slated

Memorial Day will be observed at 8 a.m. at the Moorpark Veteran's memorial, corner of Los Angles and Moorpark avenues, and 10 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Grove in Poindexter Park, 500 Poindexter Ave., Moorpark.

The public is invited to all services at no charge.

At the 8 a.m. ceremony, American Legion Post 502 and Boy Scout Troop 604 will replace the weathered American and POW/MIA flags, and the Blue Star banner, which honors the men and women currently in uniform, which have flown since Veterans Day last year. Post Commander Bruce Thomas will speak on the ceremony's importance.

At 10 a.m., an observance will be hosted by Post 502, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 502, the Forty and Eight (American Legion honor society) and Troop 604. Veterans are asked to wear identifying pins, caps or their uniform.

The Moorpark Kiwanis will provide a free continental breakfast at the 10 a.m. event.

For more information, call Post 502 at (805) 523-3355 or the post adjutant at (805) 529-0215.
