See photo project at arts festival

The Moorpark Arts Festival is this Sunday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Moorpark Civic Center and throughout the theater, galleries and restaurants on adjacent High Street.

There is a full schedule of performances, displays, exhibits and demonstrations for adults and children in all aspects of the arts.

I am curating the Photo Exhibit again, and this year there is a special theme, "My Hometown." The results of a photo project that included 14 Moorpark children from ages 5 to 19 will be featured, where each child was armed with a disposable camera and a list of questions about Moorpark and asked to show their answers with pictures. It will be hung in order of age, with a portrait and bio of each child.

Those of you from Moorpark College might be interested to know that of the 14 photographers, half of them had something about the college as an answer, whether the teaching zoo, the observatory, the most beautiful building (Library and Learning Resources), the most beautiful spot (the view from the library deck) or just "a good idea" for the city.

Also on display will be historical photos of Moorpark as well as some modern-day images. I hope you'll all come and spend an enjoyable day with your family. Kim Ramseyer Moorpark
