Poets who may pen a lyric or rhyme can enter a contest if it's in on time

The Moorpark Arts Festival is sponsoring an inaugural Poetry Contest.

Poems will be displayed in an anthology at the festival Sun., May 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winners may be asked to read their winning entries at the festival.

Contestants must reside in or attend school in Ventura County. Six age categories are offered: kindergarten to second grade, third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade, ninth through 12th grade, adult and senior (age 55 and up). Prizes will be awarded to winners in each age category.

Entries must be typed and printed on standard letter-sized paper. The poet's name should not be on the page. Mailed entries must be in a 9by12inch envelope and not folded.

Poems must be in English, 25line maximum and typed in 10or 12-point font. Only one poem may be submitted per person.

Entries must be received at the Moorpark City Library, 699 Moorpark Ave., by 5 p.m. Sun., April 29 or postmarked by Fri., April 27.
