Open house will present home school program

Moorpark Unified School District's Home Independent Study Program invites students and parents to an open house and orientation at 6:30 p.m. Wed., March 28 in room 22 at Mountain Meadows Elementary School, 4200 Mountain Meadow Drive, Moorpark.

Interested families will have an opportunity to learn about the program, meet the teachers, see the classroom, review materials, ask questions, and talk with other parents.

Children in grades kindergarten through 8 are eligible for the program, which is free to students who reside in or near the district.

The program assists parents who choose to home school their children and offers flexible and challenging curriculum. Lesson plans, materials, and textbooks are included.

Students have access to library, computers, math tutoring, field trips and other special activities. Once a week students are invited to attend a full day of enrichment classes such as science, art, music, writing, Spanish, and math.
