Thanks for Arbor Day ceremony

I just got home with my daughter from a very nice event, the city of Moorpark's first Arbor Day ceremony. I salute the City Council and city staff that made this neat commemoration possible. A lot of hard work went into it, and I look forward to seeing this become a yearly event that we all can look forward to.

I read Mr. Butler's letter from last week, and I cannot agree more with him. For years too many nice trees have been removed on city right-of-way and from private property and not replaced. Every tree that is lost in Moorpark is a tremendous loss to our community. We live in a desert here, and without our trees it would look like one. We take them for granted for all they give our town until they are gone.

Let's all join in with the city in their effort to "regreen" Moorpark. We will all reap the benefits of a greener Moorpark. Dale Whitaker Moorpark
