Congregation B'nai Emet to celebrate Purim holiday Congregation B'nai Emet invites the community to its Purim celebration 7 p.m. Fri., March 2 at the synagogue at 4645 Industrial St., Ste. 2C, Simi Valley. The sixth-grade students will narrate and pantomime the Purim story, with a guest appearance by Haman, the story's villain. Rabbi Michele Paskow will read from the "megillah," the Scroll of Esther from the Hebrew Bible. Cantor Michael Russ will lead a Purim singalong. There will be a costume parade and everyone wearing a costume will receive a prize. Special desserts in honor of the holiday will also be served. Students will makes crafts and learn about the holiday at the Religious School on Sun., March 4. There will also be a Community Purim Carnival from noon to 4 p.m. March 4 at the B'nai Emet Preschool at 3050 Kadota St., Simi Valley.
