Emergency landing made

A private plane made an unscheduled landing in a Tierra Rejada Valley field between Moorpark and Sunset Valley roads at about noon last Friday, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

David Gibson 76, of Oak View, said the single engine aircraft experienced engine trouble while flying over Moorpark. He landed the airplane in an open field and came to a stop in a nearby drainage ditch, authorities said.

Gibson was not injured, and the plane had only minor damage.

The FAA is handling an investigation of the incident, said Moorpark Police Dep. Tim Lohman.
