Man pleads guilty to embezzlement, tax evasion, theft

Anthony Thomas Leahy, 46, a former resident of Moorpark, recently pleaded guilty to 15 felonies, including counts of corporate embezzlement, grand theft, money laundering, tax evasion and failure to file a corporate tax return to evade taxes.

Leahy admitted to stealing more than $500,000 from his wife's former employer, Power One of Camarillo, and laundering more than $1 million in criminal proceeds.

Anthony Leahy is married to Dolly Leahy, a buyer who purchased parts for Power One. Without the permission of her employer, Dolly Leahy bought parts from a shell company, AT Components, that was run by Anthony Leahy.

The Leahys caused Power One to pay 100 times more than the normal price for a producer. From February to October 2002, Dolly Leahy placed more than $1.7million worth of orders with ATC.

Anthony Leahy wired $750,000 of the stolen proceeds into offshore accounts in October 2002 after he was notified that Power One was suing him and his wife. He also failed to file tax returns declaring the income ATC received from Power One.

Anthony Leahy was arrested when he flew into Las Vegas from England. Dolly Leahy was arrested in the Cayman Islands and waived extradition.

Anthony Leahy can receive up to eight years in state prison. Dolly Leahy also pleaded guilty.
