City considering plan to care for pepper trees

The city of Moorpark is proposing a tree maintenance plan for the 49 California pepper trees on High Street. The proposed project includes trees between Moorpark Avenue and the 400 block of High Street. The primary goal of the maintenance plan is to sustain and appropriately care for the original trees while minimizing the risk to people and property from aging trees on the public rightofway, according to a city report. A draft environmental impact report has been prepared to analyze the environmental effects of the maintenance plan.

The report may be viewed on the city's website at www/ci/ moorpark.ca.us. Residents who wish to comment on the report can do so in writing. Comments must be received by the Community Development Department by 5 p.m. Feb. 23 in order to be included in the final report. Comments should be addressed to: Dave Bobardt, Planning Director, 799 Moorpark Ave., Moorpark, CA 93021. A public hearing will be held by the planning commission at a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tues., Feb. 13 in the Community Center at 799 Moorpark Ave.

Anyone wishing to comment on the draft report may present oral or written comments to the commission at this hearing.
