Moorpark City Library to host grand opening

The Moorpark City Library will celebrate with a Grand Opening tomorrow, Sat., Jan. 13. Festivities include a dedication at 9:30 a.m. and ribbon cutting at 10 a.m.

"Historical Journey Through America's Music" is a children's program at 10:30 a.m. at the facility. Musicians Craig Newton plays guitar, tin whistle, mandolin, violin, banjo, Indian flute, trombone and ukulele to bring alive American musical history.

An all-ages program at 2 p.m. features storyteller and troubadour Ken Frawley in "The American Cowboy: Stories and Songs of the Old West (18651890)." This interactive show has stories, songs, trip roping and more.

All activities are free and refreshments will be served.

The event is to mark the change in library ownership. On Jan. 1 the library left the Ventura County Library system for operation by the city.

New Moorpark City Library cards will be issued to patrons who show a valid Ventura County Library card and a second form of identification.

For more information, call the new library phone number at (805) 517-6370.
