Active Adult PROGRAMS
The Moorpark Active Adult Center presents the following activities for seniors this month. Events require a reservation and will meet at 799 Moorpark Ave. unless otherwise noted. Programs are free unless a donation is requested.

•Dianne Meyer-Sasada, MFT, and Michele Berry, MSW, will give a talk on "Strategies for life transitions" at 10 a.m. Wed., Aug. 1. Topics include coping with life changes, such as empty nest and retirement; physical changes; loss of friends, family and spouse; and changing purpose in life. The program includes an interactive art activity.
•Isabelle Barrajas of the California Department of Insurance Consumer Education and Outreach Office explains how the LowCost Automobile Insurance Program works at 11 a.m. Mon., Aug. 6. The state offers the program to provide affordable liability insurance to lowincome good drivers. Installment plans are offered from as low as 15 percent.
•Joe Krachenfels, resource center manager from the Energy Employees Compensation Resource Center, will speak about the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act at 11:30 a.m. Wed., Aug. 8. The program provides compensation and medical benefits to employees who became ill as a result of working in the atomic weapons industry, as well as their survivors.
Workers who developed certain illnesses as a result of work performed in the production and testing of nuclear weapons while employed by the Department of Energy, its predecessor agencies, contractors and subcontractors, and beryllium vendors are also eligible.
•Dr. George Shen will give a presentation on the power of acupuncture and acupoints for healing a variety of conditions at 10:30 a.m. Mon., Aug. 13.
•A day trip to the Ventura County Maritime Museum at Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard will take place on Mon., Sept. 17. Activities include a docent-led museum tour, lunch catered by Andy's Seafood Restaurant in the museum courtyard, two-hour narrated tour of Channel Islands Harbor aboard the Sunfish and, weather permitting, the coastline. A fee will be charged.
