      Free landfill day for Moorpark residents will be Sun., April 15 at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 Madera Road in Simi Valley. Household waste can be dumped or recycled without charge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fillmore carjacking ends with bullet-riddled car abandoned in Moorpark neighborhood
      Suspects in an alleged carjacking that took place in Fillmore abandoned the stolen vehicle in Moorpark on April 1 but escaped arrest. Fillmore police officers responded to a call of a fight in progress with unknown male Hispanics using bats in the area of "B" Street and Blaine at 8:26 p.m. Gunshots were also heard in the area.

Moorpark Teen Council seeks new members
      Applications are being accepted from teens interested in being considered for appointment to the Moorpark Teen Council for a oneyear term ending June 30, 2008. The Teen Council consists of seven to 11 members who are Moorpark residents entering and enrolled in seventh to 12th grades in the fall. Each grade level has at least one representative.

      Soodi Salon will join the American Cancer Society's battle against cancer from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sun., May 6. "All the money raised that day will be donated to fight cancer, to provide services to cancer patients and their families," said salon owner Soodi Imani, who's been offering hair care services in Moorpark for 17 years.
