Psychotherapy center to open in Moorpark

Wellspring Counseling Group, Moorpark’s new psychotherapy practice, will host grand opening festivities and the kickoff of a free series of presentations on mental health topics in the new year.

A ribbon cutting and open house will be 3 p.m. Tues., Jan. 9 at the group’s offices, 165 High St., Ste. 102. The event will include refreshments and free depression and anxiety screenings.

The community presentations series will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wed., Jan. 17.

“During these small group gatherings, our therapist will make brief presentations on specific topics and then open things up for group discussion,” said Renee Haas, marriage and family therapist.

“This format will allow local residents to visit our offices and interact with each other in more personal ways than they would during a lecture in a larger setting,” said Dianne Meyer-Sasada, marriage and family therapist.

The discussion topics for the first quarter are grief and loss on Jan. 17, the impact of personality types on personal and profes

sional relationships on Feb. 19, and skills for coping with chronic pain or illness on March 22. Wellsprings’ licensed thera

pists work with clients on such issues as depression, anxiety, and relationships and parenting difficulties, among others. The therapists see individual adults, adolescents, children, couples and families.
