Library to temporarily close for changeover

The Moorpark Library will temporarily close for a week to facilitate the changeover from the Ventura County Library system to a city-owned operation.

The library will close at 5 p.m. Sat., Dec. 30 and is scheduled to reopen as the Moorpark City Library on Mon., Jan. 8. The drop box may be used during this time for returns.

A “soft opening” for the new library is planned for Jan. 8, with a celebration on Sat., Jan. 13. The city of Moorpark will be

issuing new library cards in January. Patrons may continue to use their current library cards at any Ventura County Library location, including the Simi Valley and Camarillo libraries.

Library items belonging to another Ventura County Library can be returned to the Moorpark Library until Dec. 28. Extended due dates will be offered on Moorpark items so that patrons are not inconvenienced by the January closure.

Any requested item borrowed from another library and held at the Moorpark Library will need to be picked up at Moorpark by Dec. 28. Patrons making requests may designate a different pickup location such as Simi Valley Library or Camarillo Library.
