Four arrested in gang-related incident Authorities arrested three Moorpark teenagers and an Oxnard man in connection with the stabbing and robbery of 20year-old Enrique Zambrano in the 300 block of Moorpark Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. Dec. 7. Eduardo Arreola, 31, of Oxnard and Vanessa Villagomez, 18, of Moorpark, were charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a criminal street gang. The pair was booked at the pre-trial detention facility in Ventura with bail set for each at $100,000. Two 16-year-old males were also apprehended in connection with the incident. They were brought to juvenile hall for the crimes of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a criminal street gang. The four suspects allegedly attacked Zambrano while he was visiting a friend in Moorpark, according to East County Major Crime Unit detectives. The suspects encountered Zambrano as he left his car in an apartment complex in Moorpark. They surrounded the victim and asked him where he was from, authorities said. The suspects allegedly yelled out gang-related language and attacked Zambrano with a knife while they stole personal items from him. Zambrano sustained several non-life-threatening stab wounds and eventually managed to run away from his attackers. — Sylvie Belmond |
