Highway Patrol officer retires

Officer Ken Ericsson
After 29 years of service, California Highway Patrol officer Ken Ericsson, a Moorpark resident, retired on Dec. 15.

Other officers looked up to Ericsson for his dedication to patrolling California roads, said CHP area commander Cliff Williams, adding Ericsson was also a mentor to younger officers.

“It has been a great benefit to our officers and citizens here in Ventura County to have the knowledge and wisdom of Officer Ericsson here to serve us,” Williams said.

Ericsson attended the highway patrol academy in 1977 and was assigned to the West Los Angeles area in 1978. After working for several years in the San Fernando Valley, he came to the East Ventura County region in 1998, where he continued his muchrespected career.

“He’s a dedicated officer with strong moral convictions. Losing him after so many years will be a loss to the department,” said Sgt. Annie Vaught.

Ericsson enjoys hunting and fishing and he’s probably also going to be busy working on his “honey-do” list, she said.
