Hwy. 118 needs improvements

Regarding the county’s decision to back down on Highway 118, what’s wrong with this picture: a handful of people has stopped any improvement on Highway 118 for what reason, to preserve their rural lifestyle?

This inadequate road is hampering agriculture, something I would think is the main ingredient of those belonging to SOS’s rural lifestyle. 

And what about just preserving life? Do these people care that there was a horrible accident on my corner tonight, at Highway 118/Balcom Canyon? What do they care about anyone else except for their ridiculous myopic view. 

If you could poll the residents of this county, how many of them would say leave Highway 118 the way it is? I’d think a heck of a lot more than a handful of selfish NIMBYs would ask the county and Caltrans to improve Highway 118 and improve safety and save lives.

I only wish the board of supervisors had some backbone. Debra Tash Somis
