Fire victims eligible for property tax relief

Property owners who have suffered wildfire damage amounting to more than $10,000 can apply for a temporary reduction in property taxes by calling the assessor's office at (805) 477-1512.

The tax collector will work with the fire department to get a list of damaged properties. Victims of fire damage will be able to postpone the first installment of 200607 property taxes for at least 30 days if the fire loss is confirmed by the assessor or the fire department.
