City Council seeks applicants for three advisory committees The Moorpark City Council is seeking interested persons to fill vacancies on three advisory committees: Moorpark Arts Commission, Active Adult Center Advisory Committee, and Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee. All applicants must be registered voters and reside in Moorpark. Some positions may have additional requirements. Applications may be obtained at City Hall, 799 Moorpark Ave. and online at the city's website at www.ci.moorpark.ca.us. Applications may be submitted to the city clerk at City Hall and must be received at City Hall no later than 5 p.m. Fri., Dec. 8. Postmarks will not be accepted. The Moorpark Arts Commission will fill five positions for a two-year term from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2009. Applicants must either reside within the city's area of interest or within the Moorpark Unified School District boundaries or own a business in Moorpark. The commission will meet quarterly and advise the City Council regarding the High Street Arts Center's programming, administration and season development, promotion of the arts center's programs and services, and review of a longrange capital improvement plan. The commission also shall advise and review the design and placement of artwork, solicit public comment, and provide a recommendation to the City Council on the design and location. Commission members will be compensated for attending meetings. The Active Adult Center Advisory Committee will fill five positions for a twoyear term ending in December 2008. Applicants must be age 60 or over. The committee meets monthly and provides recommendations on active adult programming, gives input on the Active Adult Center operation, and addresses other general active adult-related issues. The Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee will appoint two representatives for two-year term ending in December 2008. The committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Government Center in Ventura. Mileage reimbursement will be provided for attending meetings. The committee will obtain information relating to public transportation, study and work with city/county staffs of the Ventura County Transportation Commission, and recommend necessary actions in the production of transportation plans and services |
