Agency on Aging awards grant for Moorpark elderly
The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging announced a grant award of $40,000 each to the senior services departments of the cities of Oxnard and Moorpark to provide programs to enhance the health and wellness of individuals 60 years and older.
The two new programs are funded through Title III B of the Older Americans Act.
Moorpark will collaborate with three cities to make free health screenings available in multiple locations in the county.
Oxnard will be providing the Bone Builders based on a national model created by Tufts University. The comprehensive program will include weekly fitness activities to combat osteoporosis and will be available at multiple sites in Oxnard.
Both programs are currently being developed and will be implemented early next year. More information about the programs and their availability will be released by the two cities at a future date.
