Discovery Day to present many activities for children

The nationally accredited Moorpark College Child Develop- ment Center will host Discovery Day, its semi-annual fundraiser, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Oct. 14 on the rooms, patios and grounds of the center at Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road. From Collins Road, turn right at Campus Road to signs for parking.

Discovery Day is a day filled with many fun and educational ac- tivities for parents and their children ages 2 to 10. Spend the day explor- ing the developmental, process-ori- ented environment provided by the staff and students of the center.

Children can "mine for gold" in the sandbox, "dig for fossils" in ice, experiment with a variety of "doughs," "blast off" in a space ship, "buy groceries" in a store, and many other activities.

Toymaker Gene West will visit all day and the Sunshine Band will perform from noon to 1 p.m.

The cost is $5 per child and $3 per adult. Food, soft drinks and baked goods will be available for purchase from the parents in the CDC program.
