Motorcycle centers to raffle scooters for cancer

The Ventura and Simi Valley Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealerships will give away a Schwinn scooter to raise funds and awareness to combat breast cancer.

In honor Breast Cancer Aware- ness Month, both dealerships will be selling tickets through Oct. 28 to raffle off one pink-and-white, four-stroke gas-powered Schwinn Hope scooter from each location.

All ticket-sale proceeds will benefit Amazon Heart, a trek from Los Angeles to San Francisco by female cyclists to create awareness of the disease.

Additionally, Schwinn Motor Scooter Company will donate 10 percent of the purchase price of all Hope models to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to raise awareness and support research for breast cancer. cancer "We are excited to get involved and create a month-long event that can raise as much as $10,000 dur- ing Breast Cancer Awareness Month," said general manager Paul Pecoraro. "Amazon Heart focuses on the continued need for support to cancer survivors, and has motor- cycle-riding members, and Schwinn donates to the Susan G. Komen Foundation which has simi- lar goals. Both Harley-Davidson and Schwinn have provided sup- port for breast cancer survivors, so this is a combined effort among or- ganizations that care." Raffle tickets are $10, with 500 tickets available at each store.

The Ventura store is at 1326 Del Norte Road in Camarillo, and the Simi Valley store is on 6190 Con- dor Drive in Moorpark.
