School employee recognized by board
Tim Forbes, a veteran of the Moorpark Unified School Dis- trict, was honored by the board of education Tuesday for his service as district technology director.
He worked with the Strate- gic Planning Committee to write goals and strategies that will move the district forward in the area of technology. Forbes cre- ated a district-wide Technology Committee and wrote both the District Technology Plan and grade level standards and bench- marks for technology use. He worked closely with the school bond implementation to ensure that technology purchases were in alignment with the plan.
Forbes is currently directing the use of the district's Enhancing Edu- cation Through Technology grant which will spend close to $1 mil- lion during the next two years to provide staff development and hardware and software for grades 4 through 8.
Forbes has also been instru- mental in the transition between student information systems, said Anna Merriman, assistant super- intendent of instruction and stu- dent support.
"He has managed to maintain his sense of humor under pressure throughout the change process," she said.
"He has everyone's best in- terest at heart and his hard work frequently goes unappreciated. Tim always tries to provide the schools with the help and sup- port we need," said Juli Judd, technology mentor at Chaparral Middle School.
