The Moorpark Active Adult Center presents the following activities for seniors this month.

Events require a reservation and will meet at 799 Moorpark Ave. unless otherwise noted. Programs are free unless a donation is requested.

Registration forms are now available for the center's Doubles Horseshoe Tournament, open to ages 55 and up, scheduled for Fri., Oct. 6 in Poindexter Park, Moorpark. The event will include a barbecue lunch of hot dogs, sauerkraut, beverages and dessert.

Tournament play is free and the lunch is $3, with payment due at registration. Registered participants may check out horseshoes for practice before the tourney. Registration closes on Fri., Sept. 22. Call the center for an entry form or stop by the office.

Artists are invited to participate in a five-day exhibition of gourd art scheduled for Oct. 8 through 12 at the Moorpark Civic Center Citrus Room. Artwork should be brought to the center on Oct. 2 or 3 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Entries are limited to five per person. There is no entry fee. Call the center for entry information.

Barbara Kirby will teach a cartoon drawing class beginning Mon., Sept. 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. Kirby is a professional artist, with her artwork published in books and newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times. Enrollment is limited and registration is now open.

"Walk down memory lane" as Betty Berry reminisces about the "greatest generation's" milestones through the years at 10:30 a.m. Thurs., Sept. 14. Berry is a senior advocate.

The Bingo Bash Fundraiser, featuring a big jackpot of $250, will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sat., Sept. 16 at the Moorpark Civic Center. A $15 buy-in includes 10 games, dessert bar, coffee, tea, lemonade and a free dauber. Two "specials" are available for an additional fee.

Players must be 18 or older. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Moorpark Active Adult Center.
