Americana country music stars present concert

OneSpirit Center for Conscious Living in Simi Valley will host Nashville recording stars The Woody's for a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wed., July 19 at the church, 1756 Erringer Road, Simi Valley.

Renowned in their field of country music known as "Americana," the husband-and-wife team of Michael and Dyann Woody have written and performed hit music on the Nashville scene for more than 20 years.

In 1998, their debut album went to No. 1 on the Gavin Americana Chart and they received worldwide critical acclaim. The Woody's won the Country Music Vocal Duo at the International Music City News Awards and the album was one of the top five picks in the U.S. by TNN's www.country.com.

In 2000, The Woody's were one of the artists on "The Gram Parsons Notebook Project: The Last Whippoorwill." The album reached No. 3 on the Gavin Americana Charts in the U.S.

Chris Hillman of The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers and The Desert Rose Band said, "I've known Michael Woody for 20 years. He's a great singer and songwriter. I've written my best songs with him. I love duet singing and The Woody's hit it right on the mark."

Al Perkins, producer for Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris, said, "The Woody's harmony is so close it's like blood family, reminiscent of the Everly Brothers. The music and writing has a newness and freshness so different than average Nashville."

The Woody's will also perform during the service at 10

a.m. Sun., July 16 on a love-offering basis. Children are welcome.
