Catch your dinner at YMCA fishing camp
The Simi Valley Family YMCA will host its annual "Gone Fishing" weeklong summer camp Sun. through Fri., July 2 through 7 near Mammoth Lakes. The camp is for boys and girls ages 10 through 16.
Campers will learn fishing basics as they fish at several lakes around the Mammoth Lakes area, including Convict Lake and Twin Lakes, and visit the Hot Creek fish hatchery. They will also learn how to clean and cook fish. "The plan is to eat freshly
caught fish every night," says Mark Elswick, executive director at the YMCA.
Campers will sleep in cabins at YMCA-owned campgrounds in Mammoth Mountains.
Transportation and food is included in the cost of $300 for YMCA program members and $320 for nonmembers.
Space is limited and the registration deadline is Fri., June 23.
