Flory students to blast off into space
The first and fourth-graders of Flory Academy of Science and Technology will study outer space at "Blast Off" from 6 to about 8:15 p.m. tonight, Fri., March 31. The children's families and the public are invited.
The young "astronauts" will be making "planets on a string," moon walking, playing games such as "Truth or Myths About Space," and possibly calculating their age son Earth versus in space. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena issending over the Mars Rover for students to explore.
Participants who arrive early may eat dinner at the "Space Shuttle Cafe," open from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The students

have been prepar
ing for this event for
about three months,
and have constructed
space helmets from duct
tape, plastic bottles, plastic
tubing and other items. Students will be wearing those helmets at the "Blast Off,' along with other regalia befitting the occasion.
The NASA Teacher Team had this event written into its proposal to the NASAExplorer Schools early last year.
The school is at 240 Flory Ave., Moorpark.
