CLU guest speaker to discuss Spanish, Mexican women
California Lutheran University will present “Comadres, Cowgirls and Curanderas,” a discussion of the roles and lives of Spanish and Mexican women in the American Southwest between 1540 and 1900 at 4 p.m. Mon., March 6 in Samuelson Chapel on the campus at 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. Admission is free. Guest speaker Vicki L. Ruiz, PhD, is anĀ author, editor or coeditor of nine books including “From Out of the Shadows: Mexican Women in 20th Century America” and co-editor of the U.S. women’s history reader “Unequal Sisters.” She is president of the Organization of American Historians.
