North Park to bring bad stigma

Concerning the city of Moorpark’s proposed North Park 1,680 housing development, the Moorpark City Council has tentative decided to send the proposed North Park development ballot measure to the electorate next January. A January, low voter turnout, city-wide special election increases the probability of a favorable outcome for North Park.

Many constituent groups within our city will significantly profit from the passage of this massive development. Our city as a whole will not.

The North Park development is located on property compromised by 50 years of oil extraction, in a fire hazard zone and adjacent to the Simi Valley Landfill. This project will only serve to stigmatizing our city’s good name and lower our rating in Money Magazine, “Best and Safest Cities to Live In.” Dorothy Ventimiglia Moorpark
