Moorpark College Performing Arts Festival offers summer fare

The Moorpark College Performing Arts Festival will present the following plays, concerts and dances this month. All events will take place on the college campus.

“Stranger” by Craig Lucas is an adult thriller that examines the existence of God, mortal desires, the need to be loved and self worth. This play is recommended for mature audiences. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Wed. through Sat., July 20, 21, 22 and 23 and a 2 p.m. matinee Sat., July 23 in the Studio Theatre.

“The Yellow Boat” chronicles the tragic death of Benjamin, the eight-year-old son of children’s theatre author David Saar, to HIV/AIDS. This play is suited for a family audience. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Wed. through Sat., July 27, 28, 29 and 30, with a 2 p.m. matinee Sat., July 30 in the Studio Theatre.

“Dancing Under the Stars” will be a site-specific performance of modern, ballroom and production dance numbers presented throughout the campus at 6 p.m. Fri., July 29, beginning in the PA 107 room.

The Moorpark Symphony Pops Concert will present an orchestral presentation of light music from a variety of favorite scores at 8 p.m. Sat., July 30 on the Main Stage.

Tickets for all events are $15 for adults, $9 for students and seniors, and $8 for children, Ventura County Community College District staff members and Moorpark College students with ID card.
