Chemistry professor wins distinguished faculty award
Moorpark College chemistry professor Dr. Gene Berg was honored at the school’s recent fall pre-semester celebration as the ninth recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Chair award.
Criteria for the award are excellence in teaching and service to the college and community. Potential recipients are nominated by a faculty member and nominations are voted on by former award holders and members of the Academic Senate. Berg was nominated by Professor Marie Panec and others.
Berg holds a doctor’s in analytical chemistry from UCLA and has been teaching chemistry at Moorpark College since 1970.
Berg has served as the physical science department chairman and represented his division on the Academic Senate. He was also the science advisor for the original college Honors Program.
Berg lives in Westlake Village with his wife, Bobbi, a college psychology instructor.
